Safe Browing FAQ
What is
Google SafeSearch?
Within the preferences of Google's search engine, you will find three
search filtering levels. The default setting is "moderate"
filtering which only filters explicit images.
Conducting searches using Google
for Kids ensures that the most strict
level of filtering is always on and filters both images and explicit
text.
If you are conducting searches on the main search page on Google, you need
to change the filtering settings in Google's preferences
to the highest
level, which also filters out text, in addition to images.
In the middle of the page you will see the option to select "strict
filtering" or to "turn off safe search". The default setting
is always moderate.

account such as gmail account, Youtube, Blogger - just to name a
few.

your Google account. The go to
http://www.google.com/preferences.

Why
Lock Google Safe Search?

locking safe search, anyone can turn it off to reveal search results

explained above, but it is very cumbersome to do
the same procedure on hundreds of computers at school. Have
students search Google Kids

is always on without exception.
Why Use
Safe Search Kids Instead of Google's Home Page?
When using Google's home page, and you want to employ strict filtering,
you will need to change the setting in Google's preferences (on all
installed web browsers).
Using Google Safe Search Kids
instead of Google's main page, guarantees that
safe search is set to strict filtering (both images and text) without
you having to change any settings...
See our FAQ question above on how to lock SafeSearch on your computer
when
using Google's main search page. If you are in a school
however, with too many computers to change the filtering settings on,
we recommend you bookmark this
website in your web browser as the main search engine
for your school.
As an alternative, you may also decide to use a safe browser for kids.

Does
Safe Search Kids deliver the same Search Results as Google?
Yes, Safe Search Kids is a free
internet filter powered by Google and conducting a search on
a
particular topic will deliver the same results as Google's home
page. The only thing that changes in results is determined by
the level of safe search filtering. If the preferences of
Google's home page is set to moderate search
filtering, then only explicit images are filtered from search term
results. If you
use Safe Search Kids, the default setting is strict
filtering and over rides what you may have set on Google.com.
If Google's home page is set to "strict filtering" then the results are
the same as what is delivered on our Safe Search Kids website.
Are
there More Ads on Safe Search Kids than on Google?
No. The ads delivered on Safe Search Kids search results are
the same as on Google's home page. We do however have the
option to filter out ads which may have slipped through Google's
screening
process. If you see an ad delivered for a search term that is
inappropriate for kids, please contact us and we can have it removed

internet safety, Google's
screening process for online advertising is not perfect, therefore we
encourage you to notify us if you see a text advertisement that is
either not appropriate for kids, or not relevant to the search term
